InfoSec is as they say a marathon, not a sprint. In this field, we are lifelong learners, yet we forget to take care of our physical and mental needs each day. We forget to get up and stretch every hour or so or easily get too busy to do some daily exercise routine. We are constantly too busy to drink enough water each day and to make meals that help us eat right.

Today’s post is a reminder that there are ways to a better lifestyle that can work for you and all you have to do is hack your daily routine!

Watching videos to learn new things or to keep up with cybersecurity news? Watch while having a light jog on the treadmill or if that is too expensive or you don’t have the room for a treadmill then try my favourite option, the mini stepper. A small and inexpensive way to get some daily exercise in while watching videos or listening to music.

The Morning Cybersecurity Threat Briefings on YouTube by Gerald Auger are great for this! My other recommendations are Cyber Insecurity, NetworkChuck, David Bombal, The XSS rat, and HackerSploit. I’d be more than happy to hear your recommendations also! I simply subscribe to content creators that I wish to learn from and watch or listen to them as I work out. We don’t have to choose between healthy habits and learning!

Not drinking enough water each day or suspect that you might not be drinking enough? Health experts commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 litres, or half a gallon a day. Obviously, the exact amount does vary between men and women but there is a way you can keep track of how much you are drinking and reach your goal amount! You can get 2-litre sports bottles from places like Walmart or Amazon.

I am personally still working on fitting healthy eating into my lifestyle. If you have any recommendations I would definitely love to hear them!

As for sleep we’ve all had the habit of not shutting down our computers until we ourselves are ready to shut down. But for most people, the mind requires a wind-down time first. I have found that reading is a great wind-down activity and it’s something that most people enjoy but usually feel they don’t have the time for.

Hack your way to a healthy lifestyle by figuring out what ways work for you and if you can share those ways with the community!
